Okay, I understand the crap quality of the raw, but grayscaling + histogram leveling takes 30 seconds – top – per picture. Unless you’re using Paint, but if you want to edit manga with that you’re in for a world of hurt…
Have a look at this version, I made it in 5 minutes with a script in Paint Shop Pro… Leveled at 100 – 1 – 225 , if you want to try out yourself

Unfortunately, getting rid of the JPEG compression artifacts is another thing entirely.

I just found a somewhat higher quality raw of Kannazuki no Shimai.
I haven’t compared them side by side, I just know this one is higher res than yours.

I’m using PS CS3 since I have some minor PS experience. I knew you could so that kind of stuff in PS but I’ve just been too lazy to look it up and until now I haven’t edited anything as messy as this one so I haven’t thought about it before. Thanks for pointing that out though, I will remember it from now on -_-

Why didn’t anyone post this a few months ago ;_;
There’s a big difference between the two raws so I’ll use the ones you posted for the remaining chapters.
I’ll get on with Kannazuki no Shimai now and hopefully have it done by the end of this week.
